چکیده

Abstract This study investigates the potential of hydroalcoholic extracts Cistus ladanifer L., Erica Andevalensis and Rubus idaeus L. as a green method for recovery platinum group metals (PGMs) from both synthetic unimetallic solutions multimetallic obtained leaching two different spent automotive catalytic converters (SACC). Experiments with revealed that E. andevalensis R. could separate about 70% Pd less than 40% other tested (Al, Ce, Fe Pt) solutions. Then, application plant to SACCs leachates showed can induce high precipitation (> 60%) Pt co-precipitation 20% metals. UV–Visible spectra analysis confirmed bio-reduction 2+ ions into 0 nanoparticles by extract, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) contribution functional groups phytochemicals present in extract (such phenols, flavonoids anthocyanins) stabilization. Afterward, scanning electron microscopy energy-dispersive X-ray (SEM–EDX) precipitate one leachate demonstrated presence particles along organic compounds containing Therefore, were subjected washing step acetone further purification. Finally, transmission (STEM-EDX) purity final high-resolution STEM allowed determine their size variation 2.5 17 nm an average Feret 6.1 crystalline structure interplanar lattice distance ~ 0.22 nm. approach offers various benefits including simplicity separation valuable makes process more feasible economic environmental standpoints. A cost 20 $/g recovered was estimated (excluding manpower). Graphical abstract

Oxidative leaching process with cupric ion in hydrochloric acid media for recovery of Pd and Rh from spent catalytic converters.

The recycling of platinum-group metals from wastes such as autocatalytic converters is getting growing attention due to the scarcity of these precious metals and the market pressure originated by increase of demand in current and emerging applications. Hydrometallurgical treatment of such wastes is an alternative way to the most usual pyrometallurgical processes based on smelter operations. Thi...

Studies on Platinum Recovery from Solutions after Leaching of Spent Catalysts by Solvent Extraction

The results of studies on the separation of platinum(IV) ions by solvent extraction from aqueous solutions after leaching of spent catalysts have been reviewed. The following processes have been discussed: acid leaching of spent catalysts and solvent extraction of platinum(IV) ions by using organophosphorous acids, amines and oximes as the extractants. In hydrometallurgical leaching of spent au...
